Fight Pesky Black Gnats With Essential Oil Remedies

Posted by Pam Linton on

You, like many of us this spring, may have black fly or gnat bites large enough to be seen from across the room. This does not make us exceptional but they do make us itch! You most likely felt no bite or insect on your skin, but the evidence of the bite can range in size from that of a dime to a half dollar. Common areas for these uncomfortable bites are the temples and the back of the neck under your hair. These pests reside in the tree tops and dive-bomb the closest food source available on their way down! We can treat and find relief from these uncomfortable bites naturally with essential oils. Lemongrass Oil and Basil Oil have anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties which will help prevent the spread of bacteria and infection. Peppermint Oil well-known for its cooling and soothing effects will help reduce itching. Tea Tree Oil will stop itching, and encourage wound healing. To reduce swelling add four drops of Tea Tree Oil to one cup of cool water. Dip a clean cloth into the mixture and hold in place until it becomes room temperature. Lavender Oils analgesic properties manage stinging bites. With the help of these essential remedies we will all live more comfortably this summer!
